Savannah State Signs 13 On National Signing Day

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State University head football coach Aaron Kelton has added 13 newcomers to join the Tiger family for the upcoming season during the spring National Signing Day.

Wednesday's additions include seven freshmen and six mid-year transfers.

Eight of the signees hail from Georgia while four are from Florida and one is from North Carolina.

Kelton inked three wide receivers, three linebackers as well as one offensive lineman, quarterback, running back, defensive lineman, defensive back and punter. He also signed one athlete.

Headlining the high school players is Anthony Wilson, a linebacker from Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia where his team won the 2024 GHSA Class AA state championship. The 6-foot, 220-pound Wilson was also the GHSA Class AA Defensive Player of the Year in 2024, finishing the year with 123 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, four sacks, four interceptions (two were returned for touchdowns), four pass deflections and two forced  fumbles.

Joining Wilson at linebacker will be Reico Collins (5-11, 220) and Taj Jansen (6-0, 200).

Collins is a Savannah, Georgia native played at Jenkins High School where he had 112 tackles and 16 tackles while earning First Team Region 3-AAA honors as a senior.

Described as a physical tackler and a inside linebacker who has some range and a knack for forcing turnovers, Jansen played at Boone High School in Orlando, Florida where he finished the season with 45 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a touchdown.

Joining Wilson, Collins and Jansen on the Tigers defensive until will be defensive back Sev Croom II. The 5-10, 170 pounder has 4.4 speed and can play safety or corner back. During his senior year at Lyman High School in Longwood, Florida, Croom had 12 solo tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions and a pair of tackles for loss.

Dillon Lattimore, the largest member of the recruiting class at 6'5" and 259-pounds, played at Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia. Latimore is a long athletic offensive tackle and a great athlete for his size with lots of upside.

Camron Jones is a 6-foot-3 wide receiver from East Paulding High School in Dallas, Georgia. Jones earned second team Region 5-AAAAA honors and is described as a very physical wide receiver.

Rounding out the high school recruits is punter Lucas Edenfield from Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida. Edenfield (6-1, 185) punted 35 times last season and averaged 37.9 yards per punt with ten of those landing inside the 20 yard line. He had a long of 50 yards.

Caleb Barbas is a mid-year high school signee who plays running back. Already enrolled at Savannah State, the 5-foot-9, 195 Roswell, Georgia native played at Centennial High School where as a senior he ran for 851 yards and nine touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns.

Fabian Walker Jr. (6-1, 185) is a quarterback who comes to SSU from Iowa Western Community College. He is a native of Chamblee, Georgia.

Other mid-year transfers are wide receivers Zacharey Coleman (Coastal Carolina) and Cinsere Clark (St. Francis), defensive lineman Clifford Ghee (Kentucky Christian) and athlete Prince Brown (Erskine) who plays wide receiver and defensive back.

Coleman (6-1, 165) is a native of Conyers, Georgia (Heritage High School), Clark (6-0, 175) hails from Durham, North Carolina (Southern Durham High School), Ghee (6-1, 235) is from Tampa, Florida and Brown (5-11, 160) is from College Park, Georgia (Banneker High School).
