SAVANNAH, Ga.- After a long rain delay, Savannah State was able to play a double-header against Lane on Sunday at Tiger Field and the Tigers walked away with wins of 16-5 and 5-2.

The wins improved SSU to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

In the first game, the Tigers trailed 5-2 but exploded for 14 runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Dragons scored a run in the top of the first inning and  added four more in the second for a 5-0 advantage.

A RBI triple by Kendal Spencer scored Reginald Tuggle and a single by Addrian McNeal Jr sent home Spencer in the third to cut Lane's lead to 5-2.

In the sixth, Johan Sandoval drew a walk and scored on a single by Bryce Bause. Julian Grier was hit by a pitch and Tuggle drew a walk to load the bases for Spencer who  also drew a walk which allowed Bause to score. Chandler Hicks followed with a single that brought home Grier and Tuggle. McNeal reached base thanks to a fielding error which allowed Spencer to score. That error also allowed Hicks to steal home and McNeal to steal second. Farah Castillo also reached base on an error and that sent home McNeal. Following a walk to Sandoval, a fielder's choice by Brevin Smith sent home Castillo and a double by Bause allowed Sandoval to score. Grier hit a two run double that sent home Smith and Bause and a single by Tuggle allowed Grier to score. Walks to Spencer and Hunter Bradshaw loaded the bases for Castillo who hit a single that scored Tuggle and Spencer for the final runs of the inning and game.

Tuggle and Spencer both scored three times for the Tigers and Castillo had three RBI.

Adonis Perez was the winning pitcher. The senior from Woodbury, New Jersey pitched 5.2 innings in relief and gave up three hits, one run and two walks while striking out two.
