SAVANNAH, Ga.- BOXTOROW announced their HBCU Football College All American Team on Monday and Savannah State University linebacker
Darrian Bell was among those recognized, receiving honorable mention honors.
The team was based on voting by media who cover HBCU football.
A graduate student from Danville, Kentucky, Bell also earned Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team Defense honors and was twice named the SIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Bell led the conference in solo tackles (68) and was second in the SIAC in total tackles (93). He finished the regular season with 11 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries.Â
His best game of the season came in the Tigers overtime win against Allen when he set a new SSU single game record with 23 tackles (19 solo) and was named SIAC Defensive Player of the Week as well as the HBCU National Player of the Week.
Bell also received the SIAC Defensive Player of the Week award after his performance against Benedict where he had a game-high 13 tackles (9 solo). He also had two tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry.
A transfer from Louisville, Bell has been invited to play in the 2026 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl. The game is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana at 3:00 PM CT.
