SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State University volleyball team will open their 2024 season at on the road against Brewton-Parker College on September 6, 2024. The non-conference match will begin at 6 p.m. in Gillis Gymnasium
This will be the first time since 2021 that the teams have played each other. SSU won that match 3-0 on September 9, 2021.
SSU and Brewton-Parker started playing each other in 2006 and BPC leads the overall series 9-4.
Brewton-Parker enters the match undefeated with wins coming against Toccoa Falls, Trinity Baptist and Claflin.
Savannah State is coming off of a 12-12 campaign where they fell short of making the four-team Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason championships.
After beating Fort Valley State University 3-1 on October 24, SSU owned a 12-9 overall record and was 8-8 in conference play but the Lady Tigers ended their season with consecutive setbacks to Clark Atlanta University, Edward Waters University and Allen University.
The 2024 team will be led by Kloee Ludy who was named to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Preseason All-Conference Team.

The LaFayette, Georgia native was named to the Second Team.

During the 2023 season, Ludy played in 96 sets and 24 matches. Offensively, she had 23 points, 40 assists, 20 serving aces and two kills. On the defensive side, she had 501 digs and one block.
Also back from the 2023 team are senior
Tiana Curry and sophomore
Mina Ezikpe. Curry was third on the team with 150 kills while Ezikpe recorded 30 kills.

Savannah Everett and
Saniaa Dickey, transfer
Aaliyah Saunders and high school product
Iyonna Pike to the program. She also welcomed back
Jasmine Nettles who was a member of the SSU 2021 squad before transferring to Alabama A&M.
Following their match with Brewton-Parker, SSU will travel to Middle Georgia State on September 10 before hosting Middle Georgia State in Tiger Arena for their home opener on September 18.
