SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Tigers ended their 2024 home series with a 10-5 victory over Albany State, in a game played at Tiger Field on April 20, 2024.

A two-run single to left field by
Hunter Bradshaw gave SSU a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

The Golden Rams answered by scoring five times in the top of the fourth.

In the fifth,
Jadon Oden drew a walk and scored whenÂ
Addrian McNeal Jr hit a double to left field. A double to left field by
Kendal Spencer allowed McNeal to score and when
D'Sean Prinkleton reached base on an error by the shortstop, Spencer scored a run to tie the game at 5-5. A single by Bradshaw brought home Prinkleton and a double by
Chandler Hicks sent Bradshaw to third. A wild pitch allowed Bradshaw to score while back-to-back walks to
Jason Miller and
Desmore Joseph II loaded the bases for
William Mahoney IV whose single allowed Hicks to score. Oden and McNeal followed with back-to-back two-run singles that increased the Tigers score to 12-5 to end the inning.

SSU loaded the bases in the sixth with Prinkleton being hit by a pitch, Hicks drawing a walk and Miller hitting a single. Joseph hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Prinkleton to score and during the throw back to the infield, Hicks scored while Miller stole second. A double by Oden brought home Miller for the final run of the game.

The Tigers had 13 hits in the game with McNeal collecting three and Oden, Spencer and Bradshaw getting two each. Oden, McNeal and Bradshaw all drove in three runs while Oden scored three times and Spencer, Prinkleton, Hicks and Miller all crossed home plate twice. Miller stole three bases.

Brayden Thomas pitched five inning for SSU on the hill and struck out three batters.

Earlier in the day, Albany State beat the Tigers 4-2.

The Golden Rams scored three times in the fourth and added another run in the top of the seventh for a 4-0 advantage.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh,
Desmore Joseph II reached base thanks to an error by the pitcher which allowed
Kendal Spencer and
Hakem Smith to score to cut their deficit in half.

The Tigers were limited to just four hits in the contest by way of Spencer, Smith,
Addrian McNeal Jr and
Hunter Bradshaw.
Brevin Smith struck out two batters in his six innings on the mound for Savannah State.

On April 19, Albany State beat SSU 6-4 in 10 innings.

With runners on the corners in the first inning,
Kendal Spencer hit into a double play which allowed
Jadon Oden to cross home plate for a 1-0 lead.

A triple to right field by Spencer brought home Oden in the third and a sacrifice fly by
Desmore Joseph II in the fourth was deep enough for
Hakem Smith to score to put SSU ahead 3-0.

ASU scored twice in the fifth but the Tigers took a 4-2 advantage in the sixth when
D'Sean Prinkleton scored off of a sacrifice fly by Smith.

The Golden Rams added two more runs in the seventh to tie the game at 4-4. Savannah State had the bases loaded in the bottom half of the seventh but could not score.

Albany State (30-10, 27-3 SIAC) scored twice in the 10th inning to go ahead 6-4.

Hunter Bradshaw led off the bottom of the tenth with a single but the next three batters could not reach base.

Spencer had two RBI for SSU while Oden and Bradshaw had two hits apiece.
Gregory Gonzalez Jr pitched 3.1 innings and struck out three batters for the Tigers.

SSU (25-13, 18-12 SIAC) will close the regular season with a trip to Benedict on April 26-27.
