MOUNT VERNON, Ga.- Savannah State took on Brewton-Parker in a non-conference double-header on March 19, 2024 and fell in both games by scores of 7-0 and 7-5. Both contests were played at the BPC Softball Field.

Savannah State could only manage four hits in the opener. The Lady Tigers had runners in scoring position in the first, third and fifth innings and ended the game with four runners left on base.

SSU's best chance to score came in the fifth inning when
Zarria Smith led off with a single and advanced to second base on a ground-out by
Caleigh Powell. A single by Pheadra Smith allowed
Zarria Smith to go to third base.
Phaedra Smith was caught stealing for the second out and the top of the inning ended on
Neveah Ford's line out to the first baseman.

The Barons scored a run in the first and second innings, two in the third innings and three more in the fifth inning.

Tori Wright and Taylor Elliot both hit two-run doubles for BPC. Natalie O'Neal was the winning pitcher.

Brewton-Parker scored four times in the first inning in the second game.

SSU answered with a pair of runs in the top of the second on a two-run double by
Rosa Carnesale to slice their deficit in half.

BPC scored a run in the third and fourth innings to increase their lead to 6-2.

In the top of the sixth, Savannah State loaded the bases when
Phaedra Smith singled,
Rosa Carnesale was hit by a pitch and
Neveah Ford hit a single.
Zorianna Ford hit a two-run single that scored
Phaedra Smith and
Rosa Carnesale.
Neveah Ford stole home to cut the Brewton-Parker lead to 6-5.

The Barons scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth for a 7-5 win.
