HOOVER, Ala.-
Neveah Ford scored the game-winning run in the bottom off the 11th inning to lift Savannah State to a 9-8 victory over Miles, in a SIAC Roundup game played at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium on March 13, 2024.

Ford singled and advanced to third base on an error by the Miles first baseman. When the Miles pitcher threw a wild pitch, Ford made her was home to score what would be the game winning run.

Savannah State (9-13, 5-4 SIAC) trailed the Golden Bears 7-5 entering the seventh inning. Miles scored once to extend their lead to 8-5 but SSU scored three runs in their turn at bat to tie the game.

Miles scored three times in the top of the first inning and Savannah State sent one runner across home plate in the bottom of the inning when
LaTaviona Parke walked and later scored on a passed ball.

In the second inning,
Kayla Ragins reached base on a fielder's choice and scored on a wild pitch to cut the Miles lead to 3-2.

The Golden Bears extended their advantage to 6-2 with two runs in the third and one in the fourth.
Â
A run in the top of the fifth inning put Miles ahead 7-2 but SSU added a run in the bottom of the fifth and another two in the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth,
Milani Dunning hit a single and scored on an error by the catcher while in the sixth,
Ziahya Griffin singled and scored on
Rosa Carnesale's double. Carnesale scored when
Phaedra Smith reached base on an error by the second baseman to pull SSU within two.

Miles went ahead 8-5 in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the inning, Ford led off with a single and scored on a single by Parke. A double by Griffin allowed Parke to score and
Haley Carol, who drew a walk, scored on a passed ball to tie the game at 8-8.

Savannah State finished the game with 11 hits and one error while leaving eight runners on base. Miles collected 13 hits, left seven on base and made three errors.

Griffin had three hits for the Lady Tigers while Dunning, Ford and Parke had two hits each. Ford and Parke scored twice.

Zarria Smith pitched three innings for SSU while Carnesale was on the mound for eight innings and struck out three.

Jordan Davis had four hits for Miles (5-13, 2-6 SIAC).

SSU will wrap up the SIAC Roundup on March 14 with games against Tuskegee and Lane.
