SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State softball team saw their record fall to 5-8 after dropping a non-conference double-header to Flagler at the SSU Softball Field on February 27 by scores of 7-3 and 6-0.

SSU entered the third inning of the first game trailing 2-0 when they cut their deficit in half when
Ziahya Griffin hit a RBI single to center field that scored
Milani Dunning.
Â
The score remained the same until the seventh inning when Flagler scored five runs to increase their lead to 7-1.
Â
In their turn at bat, SSU scored twice without getting a hit.
Phaedra Smith drew a walk and
Caleigh Powell was hit by a pitch and both scored on a wild pitch for the final runs of the contest.

Dunning had a single for Savannah State, stole two bases and scored a run.
Rosa Carnesale took the loss on the mound for the Lady Tigers.

Madelyn Wise struck out five batters for Flagler in her three innings in relief and Mackenzie Smith went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI.

In the second game, Savannah State collected seven hits and left seven runners on base but could not produce any runs.

Haley Carol went 2-for-3 at the plate for SSU.

The Lady Tigers left the bases loaded in the third inning and stranded two runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings.

Zarria Smith was the losing pitcher but struck out two batters.

Flagler was led by Paige Maseda who had three hits. Jordan Sheets was the game winner and Dakota Kulis earned the save.

Savannah State will return to SIAC on March 1-2 with a trip to Albany State for a three-game series.
