DUNCAN, S.C.- 
LaTaviona Parke hit two triples and drove in five runs to power Savannah State to a 19-11 win over Shaw in the morning game of the HBCU CIAA/SIAC Classic which was played February 17 at Tyger River Park.
 
The freshman from Wellington, Florida hit a bases loaded triple in the third inning and a two-run triple in the fourth.
 
Parke finished the contest going 2-for-2 at the plate and scoring twice.
 
The win was SSU's second in a row as they improve to 2-4 overall.
 
Shaw scored four runs in the first inning but the Lady Tigers responded with 19 runs over the next four innings.
 
Savannah State scored seven in the second inning, five in the third, three in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth.
 
SSU scored seven runs off two hits in the top of second inning with 
Kayla McDuffie hitting a RBI single and later scoring a run. 
Milani Dunning reached base on a throwing error by the third baseman and later scoring on a triple by 
Kylie Rhymer who later scored on a passed ball. Parke walked and later scored on a fielding error by the second baseman, 
Ziahya Griffin drew a walk and later scored on a passed ball and 
Madison Starling-Martin reached base on a fielding error and scored on a wild pitch for a 7-4 lead.
 
In the third, Parke hit a three-run triple while Griffin and Starling-Martin hit RBI singles. In the top of the fourth inning, Phadrea Smith singled and scored on a passed ball and Parke hit a two-run triple while in the fifth, Starling-Martin, 
Zarria Smith, McDuffie and Caliegh Powell all scored runs.
 
The Bears scored four times in the third inning and three times in the fourth.
 
Ford stole three bases for SSU while Parke and Dunning stole two bases each.
 
Dunning crossed home plate three times for the Lady Tigers while Rhymer, Griffin, Starling-Martin, 
Zarria Smith, McDuffie and Ford all scored twice.
 
Rhymer, Starling-Martin and McDuffie all collected two hits for SSU and McDuffie had two RBI.
 
Rosa Carnesale pitched four innings and struck out two batters for Savannah State while Smith pitched the final inning and recorded one strikeout.
 
Shaw (0-2) was led by Ashlee Andrews who had two hits, two RBI and scored twice. D'Amani Gadson was the losing pitcher.
