ATLANTA, Ga.- Savannah State fell to 9-12 overall and 6-10 in the SIAC following a 72-54 loss to Clark Atlanta, in a game played February 10, 2024 in Epps Gymnasium, before a crowd of 1,237 fans.
 
The Tigers opened the game with a layup by 
Chancellor Wilson for a 2-0 lead.
 
With the contest tied 4-4, 
Javonte Landy stole the ball and made a layup and then converted a missed shot by the Panthers into a 3-pointer for a 9-4 advantage.
 
CAU sliced Savannah State's lead to 9-7 but a 3-pointer by Landy gave the Tigers a 12-7 lead with 13:20 left in the first half.
 
The Panthers answered with a 11-0 run to go ahead by six. After SSU got within four, Clark Atlanta put together a 10-0 spurt to increase their lead to 26-16 with 6:10 remaining.
 
Savannah State was able to whittle their deficit down to seven but the Panthers ended the period with a 3-pointer and a free throw to go into intermission with a 38-27 advantage.
 
SSU found themselves down by 11 early in the second period but that deficit grew to 23 with eight minutes left, after a 14-2 CAU run.
 
The Panthers put together a 9-1 run to get their largest lead of the night at 66-37 with 5:23 remaining.
 
SSU was down by 28 with 3:46 remaining and closed the game with a 11-1 run thanks to a layup and two free throws by Wilson, a layup and a free throw by 
Kobe Sewell and a pair of jumpers from Landy and 
Juan Gordon.
 
The game had three ties and three lead changes.
 
The Tigers had 11 second chance points while CAU had none and Savannah State outscored the Panthers inside the paint 34 to 28.
 
Landy had 14 points for the Tigers while Wilson had 10 points and seven rebounds. 
Jordan Mikel also had ten points for SSU.
 
Michael Swift and 
Qua King added six points each, Sewell and 
Ayjay Plain scored three points apiece and Gordon was credited with two points.
 
Andrew Stewart had 18 points for the Panthers (19-3, 13-3 SIAC).
 
Savannah State will play at Morehouse on February 12.
