Savannah State To Offer Volleyball Camps

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah State University head volleyball coach Roselidah Obunaga will offer four volleyball camps this summer.

The Summer Youth Volleyball Camp will be held on July 10, the Beginners Volleyball Camp will beon July 11, the Volleyball Position Camp will be July 12 and a Volleyball Team Camp will take place July 15.

The Youth Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is for ages 5-12. The cost is $100 per person. The Beginners Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is for ages 11-12. The cost is $70 per person. The Position Camp will cost $100 per person and there is no age limit for this camp. The Team Camp is for high school players and the cost is $300 per team of 10 athletes. There will be a morning skills session and competition session in the afternoon.

All camps will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will take place on the SSU campus in the Willey-Wilcox Gymnasium. Participants will receive a camp t-shirt and lunch (pizza).

The campers will get a chance to learn volleyball skills from the coach and the Lady Tiger volleyball student-athletes. The skills camp offers training that will help players improve individual skills as well as develop team concepts. 

A variety of fast paced drills and learning situations will give the athletes many opportunities to develop as Individuals and team players.  Camp instructors strive to provide a competitive environment that challenges and encourages players.

Obunaga will be entering her fourth full year as Savannah State's head volleyball coach, after serving as interim in 2019. Under her leadership, the program has improved greatly with three consecutive SIAC Championship appearances. Last season, the team posted a 12-12 overall record and a 12-7 mark in conference play. Both were program records.
