Lady Tigers Drop Home Match To Drew

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State women's tennis hosted Drew University on Wednesday in a non-conference home match.
 
The Lady Tigers fell to Drew 0-7, dropping to 3-7 on the season. Drew improved to 3-1 overall with the win.
 
In singles action, Sofiya Lebedeva defeated SSU's Gabrielle Benn in the first court, 6-0 and 6-3. Amarlia Benn fell to Melina Christodoulou in the second court in a tiebreaker. Amarlia Been won the first set 6-3 and dropped the second set 3-6. Christodoulou won the match with a 10-1 tiebreaker.
 
Padmasreee Murugan fell to Mary Kalorin 4-5 in the first set in the third court. Kalorin took the win after Murugan retired in the second set.
 
Sunzahra Banks fell to Sanne Bloemendaal in the fourth court, 4-6 and 3-6. Sarah Joachim dropped the fifth court to Courtney Bresler 1-6 and 0-6. Jada Worthem defeated Stella Ekwalla in the sixth court, 6-0 and 6-0.
 
The Benn sisters dropped the first court of doubles action to Lebedeva and Kalorin, 0-6. Murugan and Banks fell to Christodoulou and Bloemendaal in the second court, 0-6. Joachim and Ekwalla dropped the third court to Bresler and Danielle DelRosso, 0-6.
 
Savannah State will host Georgia College on March 24 in their final home match of the season. They will celebrate Senior Day prior to the 12 p.m. start.
