Lady Tigers Drop Two On Final Day Of SIAC Crossover

JASPER, Ala. – Following a rain out on Sunday, Savannah State was able to get the final two games of the 2023 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Crossover in on Monday.
 
Savannah State fell to host Spring Hill, 1-5, in game one and Miles College, 1-9, in game two on the day.
 
Savannah State was the first to strike in game one against Spring Hill. In the bottom of the first, Kayla McDuffie singled to reach and then made it to second on an error. She was pushed into scoring position by a sac-fly from Kaytrie-ana Bradshaw and brought home on a groundout to second from Kylie Rhymer.
 
Spring Hill plated a run in the top of the second to tie the game up and then took a 3-1 lead with two more runs in the third. Savannah State struggled at the plate, managing only two more hits over the final five innings.
 
Paityn Desormeaux picked up the pitching win after 7.0 innings of work. She allowed three hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
 
Samantha Morales was tagged with her first loss of the season after 7.0 innings. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits with no walks and one strikeout.
 
In game two, Miles racked up 13 hits in the 9-1 rout. Alisyn Ferrell pitched 4.0 innings, allowing eight earned runs with one walk and no strikeouts. Rhymer, Ferrell and Lead Dudley each had a hit in the loss.
 
Savannah State, now 4-8 overall and 4-6 in SIAC, returns to action on March 18 and 19 with a three game SIAC series at Fort Valley State. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
