No. 10 Lady Tigers Edge Out Albany State

ALBANY, Ga.– Into the final stretch of the regular season, Savannah State women's basketball is battling for a top finish into the post-season and earned a big win on Saturday.
 
With 8:45 to play in the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers were down 41-47. Then Ta'Quasia Lampkin dropped a field goal and two minutes later dropped another to spark an 11-2 run for Savannah State.
 
With 1:02 to play, Savannah State led by three points. Then senior Autumn Westmoreland dropped a three-pointer to make it a six-point affair and all but seal up the win for the Lady Tigers. In the final minute, SSU held on as Albany State tried to rebound from the late run.
 
In the final 30 seconds, a field goal from Amari Heard and a free-throw from Jashiyah Jones sealed up the 58-54 win for Savannah State.
 
The Lady Tigers improved to 17-6 overall and 13-5 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action.   
 
Nyla Allen led SSU on the night 12 points. Gibbs tacked on 11 with nine rebounds and Heard put up 10. Westmoreland finished with eight on the night, going 3-for-5 from the field and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
