BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Ahead by seven with 4:35 left in the game, Miles scored seven straight points to go ahead by 15 and went on to defeat Savannah State 59-46 in a game played at Knox-Windham/Fair Park Arena on December 4, 2023.

Savannah State trailed Miles by seven, early in the second half but used a 8-1 run to tied the game at 33 with 12:40 remaining.

The Bears broke the tie with back-to-back 3-pointers to go ahead by six.

A pair of free throws with 8:02 left by
Jordan Mikel got SSU within 39-35 but the Tigers would not be able to get any closer the rest of the night.

The loss breaks the Tigers two-game winning streak as they fall to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Both teams opened the scoring in the contest with 3-pointers.
Chancellor Wilson made a 3-pointer for Savannah State while Truitt Spencer made one for the Bears.

SSU broke the tie with two free throws by
Qua King as they jumped out to a 13-4 advantage at the 14:50 mark, following a 3-pointer by
Austin Lewis.

A 3-pointer by Aumauri Tillman gave Savannah State a 16-7 lead but Miles responded with a 13-1 run that changed the momentum of the game and gave Miles a 20-17 edge with just over two minutes left in the first period.

The Bears led by five until a dunk by Mikel with two second left sent Miles into the locker room with a 26-23 advantage.

Back-to-back field goals by the Bears opened up a seven point lead (30-23) for Miles to start the second half.

A layup by Mikel with 18:44 left started SSU's run to tie the game at 33.

Mikel led the Tigers with a career-high 20 points while
Ayjay Plain snagged down 10 rebounds and dished out five assists.

Lewis had six points while King and Plain scored four points each and Wilson and Tillman contributed three points apiece.

Michael Swift,
Marius Ellis and
Aly Keys all scored two points for the Tigers.

The game had three ties and one lead change.

Mykayle Carter had 14 points for the Bears (5-2, 2-1 SIAC).
