Tiana Curry had a .615 hitting percentage with only one error in 13 attempts but Savannah State would fall to Edward Waters in a match played at the Adams-Jenkins Complex on October 16, 2023.

SSU fell to Edward Waters by scores of 17-25, 14-25, 20-25.

Curry, who also had seven assists, finished the match along with
Destinee Langston with a team-high nine kills.

In the opening set, Savannah State trailed by three but back-to-back kills by Langston got them within 7-6. EWU reeled off a 5-0 run to stretch their advantage to 12-6 and went on to win the set by eight points.

Edward Waters raced out to a 8-1 lead in the second set. SSU whittled their deficit down to three before Edward Waters put together another run of nine straight points to open up a 20-8 lead.

The third set was close as SSU trailed 8-9 but Edward Waters scored three straight points to go ahead by four. Savannah State was able to get within three (17-20) but could not get any closer.

Jessee Grubesic had 19 assists for Savannah State and
Kloe Ludy had 11 digs. Ludy and
Allena Norton had one ace apiece and Grubesic and
Destiny Gaines had one block each.

The loss drops Savannah State to 11-9 overall and 7-8 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Edward Waters (14-5, 10-1 SIAC) was led by Fatima Ramirez who had 12 kills.

Savannah State will close out their four game road swing on October 24 with a trip to Fort Valley State at 6 p.m.
