Softball Falls To Spring Hill, Miles At Day Two Of SIAC Crossover

JASPER, Ala. – In day two of the 2022 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Crossover, Savannah State softball dropped two games to Spring Hill College and Miles College.
 
The Lady Tigers faced off with Spring Hill to open the day. Leading 1-0 into the bottom of the second, Spring Hill racked up six runs on six hits for a 7-0 lead. They tacked on five more in the third inning on four hits for the final 12-0 score.
 
Alisyn Ferrell was tagged with the pitching loss after 3.0 innings of work. She allowed seven earned runs on nine hits with three walks and one strikeout. Morgan Green, Jalexia Wright, Daxne Carrera, Da'Ondalyn Simmons and Jocleyn Lozano each a hit in the loss.
 
Paityn Desormeaux earned the pitching win after 5.0 innings of work. She allowed no runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts.
 
In the second game of the day, the Lady Tigers got off to a strong start. Miles put up a single run in the opening inning, but Savannah State responded in the bottom of the frame. Green opened with a double to reach and advanced to third on a passed ball. Carrera grounded out to score Green and tie the game.

Miles pushed out to a 3-1 lead in the top of the second and tacked on three more runs in the top of the third for a 6-1 lead. Wright doubled to left in the bottom of the third inning and later scored on a wild pitch.
 
Miles put up three more runs in the fourth and fifth as the Lady Tigers struggled to score any more runs despite big hits from Simmons (double in the fourth) and Green (single in the fifth).
