Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 15 Lady Tigers Swoop Past Clark Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. – Savannah State women's basketball, the No. 15 team in the nation, made quick work of Clark Atlanta in one of their final three games of the 2022 regular season.

With the win, they improved to 23-1 and 12-1 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action.

The Lady Tigers opened with an 18-10 advantage after the first quarter. Of all 24 games this season, Savannah State has led all of them after the first quarter of action. But it was the second quarter against Clark where they turned on the gas. The Lady Tigers outscored the Panthers 31-14 for a 49-24 lead midway through the game.

The double-digit advantage held through the second quarter as Savannah State tacked on 48 more points over the third and fourth quarters. Following a dismal first half, Clark Atlanta found some room to work and put up 57 points in the second half. But it wasn't enough.

Savannah State picked up win No. 23, 97-81.

The Lady Tigers are outscoring their opponents by a 22 point margin this year, averaging 80.8 points a game. They lead the SIAC in scoring.

Savannah State has two more regular season games before the 2022 SIAC Championship, Feb. 28-March 5 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
