Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 20 Lady Tigers Breeze Past Morris, Allen

SAVANNAH, Ga. – No. 20 Savannah State women's basketball picked up two quick non-conference wins this week against Morris College and Allen University.

In the mid-week challenge, the Lady Tigers rolled past Morris by a 77-point margin, beating them 123-46 in Columbia, S.C. Six players ended in double digits.

Le'Andrea Gillis led the charge with 17 points. Amari Heard scored 15 while Ta'Kyla Austin and Shekinah Howard each put away 13. Bria Gibbs scored 11 and Paris Thompson recorded her first double-digit game with 10 points.

Off the incredible rout of Morris, the Lady Tigers made quick work of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) provisional team Allen on the following Saturday.

Savannah State opened the game by outscoring Allen 20-6 in the first period. Down the stretch, the early scoring effort was too much for the Yellow Jackets as Savannah State sealed up their 21st win with a 79-52 victory in Tiger Arena.

Gillis again led the Lady Tigers with 17 points while Austin put away 12. Point guards Mia Goolsby and Nyla Allen each scored 10 in the win.
