Langston Named All-SIAC, Earns Elite 14 Award

Atlanta, Ga. – Savannah State women's volleyball outside hitter Destinee Langston was named to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) First Team, the conference announced in a press release Thursday morning.
 
Langston was also the recipient of this year's Elite 14 award which recognizes student-athletes who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the SIAC championship level while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers.
 
Langston, who played in all 23 matches and 78 sets, concluded the regular season at the top of the offensive stats for SSU with 246 kills, averaging 3.15 kills per set. She led the team in points (275.5), and was third in digs with 212, averaging 2.72 a set.
 
She leads the entire SIAC in attacks per set and is ranked No. 6 in points per set (3.53) and kills per set (3.15). A junior in the classroom, the accounting major has a 4.0 GPA.
 
The 2022 Lady Tigers set two school records with their 12 overall wins and 12 conference wins. They also earned the highest post-season seeding in program history, sealing up the No. 3 spot in the SIAC East Division.
 
Today, the Lady Tigers face off against Lane College, who earned the No. 2 seed out of the SIAC West Division, at the 2022 Cricket SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship in Mobile, Alabama.
 
This year marks the third consecutive post-season bid for Savannah State women's volleyball under the direction of Head Coach Roselidah Obunaga.
