SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State returns home off a tough road loss last week to face the reigning Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Champions in Theodore A. Wright Stadium.

Savannah State and Albany State have been playing each other since 1932, making the Golden Rams one of the Tigers' oldest rivalries. This Saturday will be the 64th time the teams have met on the gridiron. Albany State holds the series lead, 44-17-2.

Next week, Savannah State will travel to Macon, Georgia for the Central City Classic against Fort Valley State. Savannah State will be the home team. Kick-off in Henderson Stadium is set for 6 p.m. For more information visit www.centralcityclassic.com

LAST GAME
Week seven was a rough one for Savannah State. Hoping to spoil Clark Atlanta's Homecoming, the Tigers struggled to put points on the board in the first half. Down 0-14 into the third quarter, the Tigers found some momentum on offense, striking first. But the lack-luster offense managed only one more touchdown as Savannah State fell 12-21.

TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYERS
Shifting from the run-heavy option last year to a stand-up RPO has been an adjustment. But, there are many bright spots. At the quarterback position, Jadon Adams started the year as a third-string backup behind starter JT Hartage and second-string transfer Isaiah Robinson.

Adams shined early on, earning an SIAC Offensive Player of the Week award and the starting job. But the last three weeks have been tough for the redshirt freshman. Hartage has stepped back in and been very productive. Hartage leads the passing stats now, completing 35 of 55 attempts with three touchdowns. Adams still leads the rushing stats with 315 yards on 76 carries. Adams has seven passing touchdowns and four rushing TD's this season.

TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYERS
Last year, Savannah State had one of the toughest defenses in the SIAC and NCAA Division II football. They have some of those veterans back, but it's been several newcomers that have shined this season. True Freshman Tavare Brewton was named the SIAC Newcomer of the after a spectacular performance against Morehouse. He leads the team with 40.0 tackles this season. Veteran Mekenly Newbill has been key up front for SSU. He has 32.0 tackles on the season and 4.0 sacks. Deon Bell (29.0 tackles), Amiri Johnson (24.0 tackles) and D'Armani Ridley (21.0 tackles) also top the stats this season.

LAST MATCHUP WITH ASU
Last year, Albany State spoiled Savannah State's nearly unblemished SIAC record with a 30-0 rout in Albany, Ga. The Tigers still finished 8-2 on the season. Albany State went on to win the SIAC Championship.

OPPONENT SCOUTING REPORT
The reigning SIAC Champions are coming off a tough  24-20 loss to ranked, and unbeaten Benedict last week. Up until that game, the Golden Rams had been beating SIAC opponents by an average of 34 points. Albany State is balanced on offense this year. They have accumulated 1,301 rushing yards and 1,365 passing yards so far this season and are holding teams to average of only 13 points per game on the other side of the ball.
