SAVANNAH, Ga.—Tonight, Savannah State women's volleyball will the play the second of two home Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division matches this week.
 
On Wednesday, they fell to Fort Valley State in the week's first game. Following the loss, they remain in second place in the SIAC East Division standings with a 10-5 conference record.
 
The Lady Tigers have set a new school record this season. The 10 conference wins are the most in program history—according to available data dating back to 1994.
 
Savannah State is jockeying for the top spot in the SIAC East Division this week. Currently, they trail Albany State (12-2)—who they beat in Tiger Arena back in September. Edward Waters (8-2) is third, followed by Benedict (6-7), Allen (5-7), Clark Atlanta (5-9) and Fort Valley (4-12).
 
LAST GAME
Wednesday, Savannah State came out strong in the opening set against Fort Valley State, winning 25-12. But, in the final three sets, the Lady Tigers handed the visitor's a rare win behind some costly errors.    
 
ON OFFENSE
The Lady Tigers are led by two returners and a newcomer on offense this season. Junior Destinee Langston tops the stat sheet with 191 kills on the season, averaging 2.89 per set. Freshman Allena Norton has had an incredible debut season, recording 177 kills so far with 2.68 per set. Jasmine Nettles has been a force on the outside, recording 135 kills, averaging 2.37 a set. She leads the team in service aces with 26. But hitters are nothing without a solid setter and newcomer Jessee Grubesic has been key for Savannah State this year. She has 325 assists, averaging 5.16 a set.
 
ON DEFENSE
Libero Kloe Ludy has been a stalwart for the Lady Tigers this season and leads in digs with 282, averaging 4.27 per set. Nettles is right behind her with 199 digs followed by Langston (187) and Grubesic (119). At the net, Norton and Destiny Gaines have been fierce. Norton has 40.0 blocks this season and Gaines has 39.0.
 
LAST MATCHUP VS CAU
The Lady Tigers dropped the first set to Clark Atlanta this past Monday in Atlanta, 21-25. But they made up for the loss, sweeping the next three sets—25-16, 25-20 and 25-20—for a 3-1 match win. Jasmine Nettles and Destinee Langston led the Lady Tigers in the win, each recording a double-double. Nettles had 16 kills and 22 digs while Langston put away 15 kills and recorded 16 digs.
 
OPPONENT SCOUTING REPORT

Clark Atlanta opened the season on a five-game losing streak. But mid-season they bounced back and picked up some key wins. They are 12-18 overall and 7-10 in their conference schedule. They enter Friday's match on a three-game losing streak after dropping two to Edward Waters and one to Savannah State. They are led by sophomore Shynique McGree on offense. She has 322 kills this season, averaging 3.54 a set. She also tops the defensive stats with 210 digs.
