ATLANTA, Ga. – Coming off a Homecoming win last week, Savannah State is back on the road for week seven.

Savannah State and Clark Atlanta are no strangers on the gridiron. The programs have been playing each other since 1956. Today will be the 47th meeting on the field of battle. Since 1998, Savannah State has a 5-0 win streak against Clark and leads the overall series 27-18-1.

The Tigers return home next week to face a tough Albany State team at Theodore A. Wright Stadium. Albany State was one of two losses the Tigers suffered during last year's historic 8-2 season. Kickoff in Savannah is set for 5 p.m.

LAST GAME
Savannah State hosted Virginia Univ. of Lynchburg for Homecoming last week and overcame a slow start to pick up a 28-14 win in front of 8,000 fans in Theodore A. Wright Stadium. The non-conference win pushed the Tigers up to .500 on the season.

TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYERS

On the ground, Adams has rushed 67 times for 282 yards and four touchdowns.

Mitchell leads the receiving core with 22 catches for 255 yards and a two touchdowns.  Randy Scott, who missed the opening three games due to injury, has been clutch in the last three games, catching nine passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns.

On the ground, you will see power back #1 Shamarcus Poole and freshmen #32 Joseph Hampton handle the runs. Poole has 212 yards on 55 carries this year. Hampton has 122 yards on 28 carries.

TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYERS
Savannah State's defensive is led by a mix of newcomers and veterans this season. Up front, #0 Makenly Newbill (19.5 t, 2.5 tfl, 1.5 sacks) leads the line. Behind him, freshman linebacker #48 Tavare Brewton leads the entire defense with 24.5 tackles this season followed by #23 defensive back Amiri Johnson (20.0 tackles).

In week seven of the 2021 season, Savannah State hosted Clark Atlanta for Homecoming and made an emphatic statement with a 49-14 win in Theodore A. Wright Stadium. Savannah State put up 399 total yards of offense to Clark's 153 in the rout.
