Lady Tigers Win SIAC Opener

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State volleyball secured their first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) win in a hard-fought match against Fort Valley State on Friday.
 
The Lady Tigers battled into deep sets with Fort Valley as the well-matched teams traded tie for tie through the four-set match.
 
In the fourth set, leading 2-1, Savannah State called a timeout after Fort Valley's Raven Edwards recorded a kill to give the visitors a 24-23 lead. Out of the time, the Lady Wildcats committed a costly error to tie the set up at 24. The fourth set was tied 14 times.
 
With senior Lady Tiger Jedaiah Daniels serving, Edwards returned the serve, but it didn't hit its target landing out of bounds and giving the Lady Tigers a 25-24 lead. On her next serve, Daniels blasted a ball directly to Libero Elizabeth Moore who couldn't dig it out. With the ace serve from the senior, Savannah State sealed up the 26-24 set win and 3-1 match win.
 
The Lady Tigers dropped the first set, 22-25 to Fort Valley before rebounding with a dominating 25-19 win in the second set. In the third, after several ties, Savannah State squeezed out a 28-26 win.
 
Senior Imani Williamson led the Lady Tigers in the win with 12 kills and 11 digs. Langston recorded 11 kills and 15 digs for her first career double-double.
