FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Savannah State football plays its final Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game today on the road against Fort Valley State.

Following the Tigers loss last week to Albany State, Savannah State is looking to notch a near perfect conference record with a win today to end 5-1 in conference. Albany State comes in with a 2-1 SIAC record and 5-3 overall record this season, sitting in third place in the SIAC East Division behind Savannah State and Albany State.

The 2021 Tigers have already set a school record with nine consecutive conference wins dating back to the 2019 season. Their six-game win streak this year was one of the longest in program history, dating back to the mid-1990s.

Today will be the 36th time Savannah State and Fort Valley State have met on the gridiron. The series dates back to 1967. In 1968, Savannah State joined the SIAC and competed within the conference until 2000 when the school elevated to NCAA Division I. In 2019, they returned to NCAA Division II and the SIAC.

Fort Valley State leads the overall series, 26-7. In their last meeting—Savannah State's penultimate game of the historic 2019 season—the Tigers beat Fort Valley 53-24 at Theodore A. Wright Stadium en-route to a 7-3 and 5-0 season.

Today's game will be streamed live on ESPN+. It's the eighth game to be streamed live this year, a record for the Savannah State football program.
