SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State football visits Kentucky State in their only regular season matchup with a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division team this year.

The Tigers and Thorobreds have been battling it out since 1949. Today is the 11th matchup for the programs. The overall series is tied at five wins apiece. The last time they met was also in SIAC action in 1999—two years before the Tigers elevated to NCAA Division I. Kentucky State won that game 24-23. Savannah State has the series' largest win. They beat Kentucky State 54-0 in 1994.

Savannah State enters today's game after sweeping a three-game homestand. Last week, they beat Morehouse College 29-10 which followed wins over Benedict (34-21) and Livingstone (50-6). The Tigers opened with a hard 53-7 loss against the No. 4 team in NCAA Division II, Valdosta State, in their only other road game of the season.

Kentucky State is coming off a 34-28 win over Benedict College in the Circle City Classic on Sept. 25. They are sitting at .500 this season (2-2) after losses to Kentucky Wesleyan and Tennessee State and 2-0 in SIAC action. They opened the season with a 20-6 win over Central State.
