ALBANY, Ga. – Savannah State Volleyball opened the second day of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Crossover on Friday with two big wins and ended the day with a tough loss.

In the opening game against Tuskegee, SSU took an early 2-0 lead, winning the first two sets 25-23. Tuskegee responded, winning the third set 25-19. In the fourth set, Tuskegee tied up the match with a close 27-25 win. In the deciding set, SSU edged out a 15-13 victory to win the match 3-2.

Imani Williamson, playing in her second match of the season, led SSU on offense with 15 kills, followed by
Jeilynn Brown with 12. Â

The Lady Tigers continued the winning streak against Central State in a noon match on Friday. SSU made quick work of the game, winning the first three sets, 25-20, 26-24 and 25-21. Williamson again led the Lady Tigers with 9 kills. On defense,
Jedaiah Daniels had 15 digs, while
Valeria Aldarondo recorded 12 digs and 26 assists.

In the Lady Tigers final match of the day, they struggled against Spring Hill, dropping three straight sets, 5-25, 8-25, and 10-25. Spring Hill has an undefeated, 10-0, record in conference play.
On Saturday, the Lady Tigers dropped their final match of the tournament falling 0-3 (15-25, 11-25, 14-25) to Kentucky State. The Lady Tigers fall to 3-7 on the season and 2-6 in the SIAC after the three-day tournament. They return to home court this week with two matches. SSU hosts Albany State on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Paine College on Thursday, Oct. 3, in Willcox-Wiley Gym.Â
