ALBANY, Ga. – Savannah State, after earning their first win of the season, head into the SIAC Crossover tournament on a high note.
They face Lane College, LeMoyne-Owen, Miles, Tuskegee, Central State, Spring Hill and Kentucky State Thursday-Saturday.
The Lady Tigers bounced back from their first two losses with a dominating performance against Brewton-Parker College last Monday, winning the match 3 sets to 1. Historically, SSU has not played against any of the teams in this tournament. Freshman
Destini Williams was named SIAC Volleyball Newcomer of the Week, earning Savannah State's first player of the week awards from their new conference.
Currently, the Lady Tigers are led on offense by
Jeilynn Brown, who has recorded 28 kills. Setter
Valeria Aldarondo has 20 kills on the season and 61 assists. Ellana Nellis leads the defense with 28 digs and 11 blocks.
Savannah States returns home on Tuesday Oct. 1 in a SIAC game against Albany State.
