SSU Falls To Aggies, 5-1

SAVANNAH, Ga. Jalen Atterbury went 2-for-4 at the plat but Savannah State would drop a 5-1 match-up with North Carolina A&T in a game played at Tiger Field.
 
Atterbury had a single in the fourth inning and a double in the sixth for the Tigers (9-23-1,7-12 MEAC).
 
Jarrett Norman had a two-run single for A&T in the first inning to give the visitors from Greensboro, North Carolina the early lead.  The Aggies tacked on two more runs in the sixth to expand their lead to 4-0.
 
Savannah State prevented a shutout by scoring their lone run in the bottom of the eighth.
 
Austin Adams laid down a bunt to reach base and Yan Mastin was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second base. Atterbury flied out to center field which allowed Austin to advance to third. Austin came home on a sacrifice fly by Joey Roberson to make the score 4-1.
 
A&T scored the final run of the game in the top of the ninth.
 
The Tigers were held to four hits in the game while making one error and leaving five runners on base.
 
Atterbury, Adams and Turner Davis, who hit a double, had all the hits for SSU.
 
Luis Torres-Lopez was tagged with the loss for Savannah State. Torres-Lopez pitched eight innings and gave up 10 hits, four runs and one walk while striking out four.
 
Camden Williamson had three hits and scored twice for A&T (24-20,12-6 MEAC).
 
Tim Luth was the winning pitcher and Leon Davidson earned the save. Luth struck out four in his 7.2 innings and gave up four hits, one run and one walk. Davidson pitched 1.1 innings in relief and struck out two of the four batters he faced.
