Lady Tigers Fall To N.C. A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C.- Marcey Jiles and Zadaisha Waddell drove in two runs each to help North Carolina A&T to a 4-2 win over Savannah State.
 
SSU broke a scoreless game in the top of the fifth.
 
Freshman Stacie Smith singled and stole second. After Destiny Beckham struck out, Smith stole third and scored on a throwing error by the Aggie catcher for a 1-0 lead.
 
In the bottom of the inning, Jiles and Waddell both hit two-run singles as A&T went ahead 4-1.
 
Cortni Jones was hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth and advanced to second base on a passed ball. Jones scored after Jakayla Sullivan hit a single up the middle to pull SSU within 4-2.
 
Savannah State (5-20, 1-5 MEAC) had runners in scoring position in the seventh but could not score.
 
Kameryn Baker had two hits for the Lady Tigers.
 
Faith Dickerson took the loss. Dickerson pitched six innings and gave up 10 hits, four runs and one walk while recording one strikeout.
 
As a team, Savannah State had six hits, made one error and left eight runners on base.
 
Hailee Cutts was the winning pitcher while Mahogany Headen earned the save. Cutts pitched one inning and struck out three batters while giving up two runs. Headen spent two innings on the mound where she struck out two.
 
The Aggies (8-17, 5-1 MEAC) had ten hits and made three errors while leaving six runners on base.
