CHARLESTON, S.C.- Charleston Southern scored four runs in the fifth inning and held on to defeat Savannah State 5-3 in a game held at the CSU Ballpark.

Savannah State led 3-1 after four and a half innings of play before the Buccaneers took the lead.

In the third inning Joey Roberson singled and later scored on a throwing error by the third baseman for a 1-0 lead.

Christian Harkey hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth for the Tigers and in the fifth,
Cooper Morgan's RBI single scored
Turner Davis who reached base after being hit by a pitch.

CSU, who also scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, scored four runs off two hits in the fifth inning.

Savannah State, who had their three game winning streak come to an end, finished the non-conference game by leaving ten runners on base as they fell to 5-13-1.

Roberson and
Justin Washington had two hits apiece for the Tigers.

SSU used five pitchers and reliever Alferd Carucci was tagged with the loss. Carucci pitched one third of an inning and gave up one hit, three runs and one walk.

Both teams had eight hits in the contest.

Max Ryerson had three hits and two RBI for CSU (9-18). Jordan Bridges earned the win and RJ Petit got the save. Bridges and Petit pitched two innings each with Bridges surrendering three hits and two runs while Petit gave up one walk while striking out four.

The Bucs left six runners on base and made two errors.
