Savannah, Ga. -- In the first game of a three-game series with Nebraska-Omaha, Savannah State would fall 2-0 in a game played at Tiger Field.

Luis Torres-Lopez and Tyler Robinson would combine to strike out seven batters for the Tigers but the SSU offense could not get any runners across home plate.

Both team left seven runners on base and Savannah State had runners in scoring position in the first and seventh innings.

In the bottom of the first,
Jalen Atterbury singled, and stole second while Joseph Roberson drew a walk. After
Luis Lamarche struck out,
Turner Davis grounded out to second but it allowed Atterbury and Roberson to advance to third and second.
Justin Washington popped up to halt the scoring threat.

The Mavericks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Keil Krumwiede hit a solo home run. In the fifth, Max Gamm reached base thanks to an error by the Savannah State shortstop and scored on a single by Breyden Eckhout for a 2-0 lead.

In the seventh inning, Washington led off with a single,
Cooper Morgan flied out and
Austin Adams followed with a single to put runners on first and second. Washington stole third and Adams stole second but in between
Luis Diaz-Arias struck out for the second out.
Trevor Meaney struck out to end the inning.

Atterbury had a pair of singles for the Tigers.

Torress-Lopez pitched seven innings and surrendered seven hits, two runs and three walks while recording five strikeouts.

As a team, SSU had six hits and made one error.

Jack Lombardi had three hits for Nebraska-Omaha while Joey Machado struck out eight batters in his seven innings on the mound.

The Mavericks finished the game with seven hits.
