SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State (6-14, 4-7 MEAC) saw their two-game winning streak come to an end, losing to Florida A&M 60-55 in a game played at Tiger Arena.

SSU led 44-43 with 9:44 left in the fourth quarter but the Rattlers went on a 9-1 run to take a 52-45 lead at the 6:34 mark.

Down by seven with 1:24 remaining,
Le'Andrea Gillis hit a 3-pointer and Jaquece Alston hit a free throw to pull Savannah State within 58-55 with 12 seconds left.

Dy'Manee Royal converted two free throws for FAMU down the stretch for the final points of the game to give the Rattlers the five point victory.

Myasia Jones led Savannah State with 17 points, six assists, four assists and four steals while Alston had 10 rebounds to go with her seven points.

Savannah State, who jumped out to a 10-4 lead, led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter.

FAMU was able to tie the game at 15 in the second quarter and the contest remained tight until the final three minutes of the quarter.

Tied at 25 with 3:07 left, the Lady Tigers finished the quarter with a 11-1 run and went into intermission with a 36-26 advantage.

Savannah State led by 10 with 7:33 remaining in the third quarter but FAMU strung together a 14-1 run that gave them a 43-39 lead just before the end of the third quarter.

SSU trailed 44-43 entering the fourth quarter and were out-scored 17-13 during the final ten minutes of play.

The Lady Tigers ended the game shooting 32.2 percent from the field, 13.3 percent from beyond the arc and 53.6 percent from the free throw line.

Florida A&M (4-20, 2-10) was led by Mya Moye's 14 points. Royal, a Savannah native, added 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Rattlers, who out-rebounded SSU 46 to 43, shot 34.4 percent from the floor, 15.8 percent from 3-point land and 57.7 percent from the free throw line.
