STATESBORO, Ga.- Savannah State played neighboring Georgia Southern in their final game in the Battle in the Boro which was played at Eagle Field.

The Eagles defeated SSU 4-1 in a game that was a pitchers duel between Savannah State's
Tanisha Williams and GSU's Rylee Waldrep.

Williams pitched six innings and surrendered four hits, four runs and four walks while recording one strikeout. Waldrep was on the mound for seven inning and held SSU to three hits and one run while striking out four.

Savannah State (0-5) scored their run in the top of the seventh inning.

Cortni Jones led off with a double and advanced to third on a ground-out by
Peyton Mitchell. Jones cross home plate on a passed ball.

GSU scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and added two more runs in the third.

Stacie Smith and
Jocelyn Lozano both had singles for the Lady Tigers.

Mekhia Freeman had two hits for the Eagles (4-2) and scored twice.

Both team left four runners on base.
