SAVANNAH, Ga.  – After a hard fought 3-2 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) win over Benedict College on Wednesday, the Lady Tigers return to action with another SIAC East Division battle on Friday against Fort Valley State.

Currently, SSU is second in the SIAC East Division with a 4-7 conference record. They trail 4-0 Albany State. Fort Valley State is last in the East with a 2-8 SIAC record. Clark Atlanta (3-8), Paine (2-3) and Benedict (2-5) fill out the middle of the current standings. Spring Hill leads the West with an 11-0 record, followed by Kentucky State (8-1).

In SSU's last match, three players recorded season-high stats: Jeilynn Brown led the team with 20 kills, Jamese Scott finished with 13 kills and 6 blocks, and Valeria Aldarondo had 49 assists and 17 digs.

Historically, SSU leads Fort Valley State 2-1 in the teams three previous meetings. Savannah State lost their last match against Fort Valley, 0-3, on Sep. 20 this year. Before that, SSU beat Fort Valley on their home court, 3-1, on Oct. 5, 2014. That same year on Aug. 30, 2014, SSU swept Fort Valley 3-0.

Currently, the Lady Tigers are led on offensive by Jeilynn Brown, who has recorded 145 kills. Setter Valeria Aldarondo, who won the SIAC Setter of the Week award last week, leads the team with 383 assists. Jedaiah Daniels leads the defense with 132 digs and 32 blocks.

Savannah State's next game will be an away game on Oct. 15 in Atlanta, Ga. against Clark Atlanta University.
