SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University volleyball team (0-1) continues the season with three matches at the Panther Fest in Miami, Fla.
The Lady Tigers start with host Florida International University (2-1) Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Friday with University of Delaware (2-1) at 9:30 a.m. and Chicago State University (1-3) at 3:30 p.m.
Junior
Liz Domary Ortiz Munoz leads the team with 4.67 digs per set, while sophomore
Tyran Chenault and freshman outside hitter
Norian Ceballos Plaza each led the team with 1.33 kills per set. Sophomore setter
Salma Mia Gonzalez Sosa leads the team with 2.33 assists per set and with 1.00 service aces per set, while junior middle blocker
Jamese Scott leads with 0.50 blocks per set.
FIU opened the season going 2-1, including a 3-1 win over Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Florida A&M University. The Panthers are led by Margherita Bianchin with 3.54 kills per set, while Abbie Hughes with 7.62 assist per set and Lina Bernier with 4.38 digs per set.
Delaware also started the season 2-1, including a 3-0 win over MEAC opponent Morgan State. The Blue Hens are led by Maria Bellinger with 4.45 kills per set, Courtnie Roberts with 11.91 assists per set and Andie Hanus with 6.45 digs per set.
Chicago State opened the season going 1-2 in the opening weekend. The Cougars are led by Lauryn Dela Cruz with 4.07 kills per set, Lacee Adams with 5.86 assists per set and Megan Klavitter with 5.50 digs per set.
The Lady Tigers host The Citadel for their home opener Wednesday at 6 p.m.
