MACON, Ga. – Savannah State University women's tennis team (0-8) fell to Mercer University (6-6) 7-0 Wednesday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
 
Mercer won the doubles point by winning at all positions.  MU's doubles duo of Katie Sidor and Anna Sovic defeated SSU's doubles team of freshmen Ekaterina Vorobeva and Shakendra Alston 6-0 at the No. 2 position and clinched the point after Celine Schepers and Grace Korta defeated Sansriti Ranjan and Muskaan Ranjan at the No. 1 position.

The Bears won the final doubles match after Marie Mottet and Lucia Gutierrez defeated freshman Sofia Shut'ko and senior Rachida El Kateb and the No. 3 position.
 
Mercer took a 2-0 lead after Sidor defeated Vorobeva 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles position and took a 2-0 lead after Christie Cesarini defeated El Kateb 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 singles position.
 
The Bears clinched the match after Gutierrez defeated Alston 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position and took a 5-0 lead after Korta defeated Muskaan Ranjan 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles position.
 
Mercer took a 6-0 lead after Mottet defeated Shut'ko 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 singles position and won the final singles match at the No. 4 position after Sovic defeated Sansriti Ranjan 6-3, 6-4.
 
The Lady Tigers continue the road trip with a doubleheader Friday in Jacksonville, Fla. SSU starts with James Madison University at 5 p.m. and host University of North Florida at 7 p.m.
