JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Savannah State University women's tennis team (0-10) dropped both matches Friday to James Madison University (12-1) 5-0 and to University of North Florida (10-4) 4-0 at the UNF Tennis Complex.
 
In the first match against JMU, the Dukes won all three of the doubles matches.  JMU doubles team of Elizabeth Norman and Kimmy Herrock defeated SSU doubles duo of junior Sansriti Ranjan and Muskaan Ranjan 6-2 at the No. 1 position and JMU doubles duo of Anna Markarova and Emma Peterson defeated SSU doubles team of freshmen Shakendra Alston and Ekaterina Vorobeva 6-0 at the No. 2 position.
 
The Dukes won at the No. 3 position after Dylan Owens and Jona Roka defeated senior Rachida El Kateb and freshman Sofia Shut'ko 6-0.
 
James Madison won at the No. 1 singles position after Roka defeated Vorobeva 6-0, 6-0 and won at the No. 2 singles position after Markarova defeated Shut'ko 6-3, 6-2. 
 
The Dukes won at the No. 3 singles position after Diane Flement defeated Muskaan Ranjan 6-3, 6-1 and won at the No. 6 singles position after Owens defeated El Kateb 6-2, 6-2.
 
Two matches went unfinished as Sansriti Ranjan lost the first set 6-0 against Herrock, but was winning in the second set 4-3 at the No. 4 singles position and Alston lost the first set 6-1 against Michela Kluska, but won the second set 6-4 and was wining the final set 2-1.
 
In the second match of the day, UNF won all three doubles matches 6-0.  The Ospreys won at the No. 2 position after Lucia Montaño and Eva Nyikos defeated Vorobeva and Alston and clinched the doubles point after Rafaela Gomez and Luise Inert defeated Muskaan Ranjan and Sansriti Ranjan.
 
North Florida won the final doubles match at the No. 3 position after Florencia Rossi and Valentina Mariotto defeated El Kateb and Shut'ko.
 
The Ospreys took a 2-0 lead after Rossi defeated El Kateb 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 singles position and took a 3-0 lead after Mariotto defeated Alston 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position.
 
North Florida won the match after Montaño defeated Shut'ko 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles position.
 
With the match clinched, the rest of the matches went unfinished.  Nyikos defeated Vorobeva 6-3 in the first set and was winning 3-0 in the second set, while Luise Inert defeated Muskaan Ranjan in the first set 6-0 and was winning 4-1 in the second set.  Kinga Gartner defeated Sansriti Ranjan 6-3 in the only set played.
 
The Lady Tigers return home to face Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Norfolk State University Sunday at 1 p.m. in a non-conference battle.
