SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State dropped a doubleheader to North Carolina A&T by scores of 12-1 and 3-2 in games played at Tiger Field.

In the first game, SSU fell behind 4-0 before scoring their lone run in the bottom of the third inning.

In the third inning,
Mason Calloway singled, stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. Following a walk to
Kyle Gerdts,
Freddie Landers grounded out but it allowed Calloway to score.
Â
The Aggies added three runs in the fourth, two more in the sixth and three runs in the eighth to close out the scoring.

Savannah State had four hits in the contest, made five errors and left six runners on base.
Â
Landers had two hits for the Tigers while Luis Torres-Lopes, who was one of six SSU pitchers, was tagged with the loss. Torres-Lopes pitched 3.2 innings and gave up seven hits, seven runs and three walks while striking out three.

A&T had nine hits and made two errors in the game while stranding 12 runners on base.

Milton Rivera had a solo home run for the Aggies and Michael Johnson earned the win. Johnson pitched five innings and gave up two hits, one run and three walks.

In the second contest, the Aggies broke a tie game with a run in the top of the ninth to earn the victory.

The Tigers (5-17, 2-7 MEAC) led 2-1 after four innings of action.

Khalyd Cox led off with a single and scored on a triple by
Noah Orlando for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. A&T tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a solo home run by Rivera but the Tigers answered in the bottom half of the inning as Bryce Luke tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Gerdts.

North Carolina A&T tied the game at 2-2 in the seventh when Justin Williams tripled and scored on a single by Myles Sowell.

In the top of the ninth, Sowell reached on a catcher interference call and stole second. He scored the game winning run after a single up the middle by Greg White.

Savannah State was limited to just three hits in the game and made two errors. The Tigers left two men on base.

Orlando and Luke each had doubles for the Tigers. Greg Smith was the losing pitcher. Smith lasted three innings and gave up three hits, three walks and two runs.

Sowell drove in a run and scored once for A&T. Josh Bottenfield was declared the winner. Bottenfield pitched two innings and did not give up a run or hit.

As a team, the Aggies (13-14 ,5-4 MEAC ) had five hits band stranded eight men on base.
