SAVANNAH, Ga.- Patrick Clyne scattered four hits over seven innings and struck out 11 batters to lead Long Island University Brooklyn to a 6-0 win over Savannah State, in a game played at Tiger Field.
The Blackbirds tallied a dozen hits and scored one run in the fifth inning and three more in the top of the sixth. LIU Brooklyn added two more runs in the ninth to finish off the scoring for the evening.
Savannah State (2-7) had their chances to score but came up empty. The Tigers had runners in scoring position in the third and fourth innings and left the bases loaded in the eighth and ninth innings.
SSU ended the game with nine hits but made two errors.
Jalen Atterbury had three hits for SSU while
Mason Calloway added two hits and
Kyle Gerdts hit a triple.
Trevor McKenna took the loss for the Tigers. McKenna pitched 5.2 innings and gave up nine hits, four runs and four walks while striking out two.
Dom Paiotti drove in two runs for LIU Brooklyn (3-5).
Both teams left ten runners on base.
