SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State hosted Fairfield at Tiger Field and dropped a 6-0 decision to the Stags.

SSU (3-10) was held to three hits with
Kyle Gerdts hitting a double and
Jalen Atterbury and
Noah Orlando both hitting singles.

The Tigers had runners in scoring position in the fourth and eighth innings but could not cross home plate.

Luis Torres-Lopez earned the start on the mound for Savannah State. Torres-Lopez, who was tagged with the loss, lasted five innings, giving up four hits, two runs and three walks while striking out four.Tyler Robinson took the hill in the sixth and seventh innings. Robinson faced nine batters and did not give up a hit or run but issued two walks. Greg Smith and
Alex Pierce finished up the game for the Tigers. Smith pitched the eighth inning and gave up two hits, three runs and one walk while Pierce gave up two hits, one run and one walk in the ninth.

Fairfiled (3-8) scored twice in the top of the first inning and added three more in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Drew Blake hit a three-run homer for the Stags in the eighth and ended the day with two hits and four RBI.

Eli Oliphat and Peter Horn combined to give up three hits, no runs, three walks and record seven strikeouts.

Oliphat started the game for Fairfild and struck out five in his six innings while giving up one hit. Peter earned the save as he gave up two hits and one walk.
