SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (3-8) was swept by Mount St. Mary's University (5-6) 12-3 in six innings in the first game and 5-3 in game two at the Lady Tiger Softball Field Wednesday.
 
Senior center fielder Brianna Harris led the team with a .500 (3-for-6) with two runs scored, while junior first baseman Elizabeth Humes batted .429 (3-for-7) with an RBI and senior right fielder Shelby Eccles batted .400 (2-for-5) with two runs scored.

Humes went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Harris and Eccles each recorded a hit and scored a run.  On the mound, junior pitcher Faith Dickerson (0-3) picked up the loss pitching 5.1 innings giving up five earned runs on seven hits.
 
The Mount scored two runs in the top of the first inning after a two-run homerun down the left field line for a 2-0 lead and scored another run in the second inning after an RBI single to take a 3-0 lead.
 
Savannah State came back to tie the score in the bottom of the third inning after scoring three runs in the inning. After a strikeout to beginning the inning, Harris and Eccles hit back-to-back singles and both stole a base to put runners on second and third with one out.
 
Dickerson was hit-by-a-pitch to load the bases and Humes delivered with an RBI single to right field to drive home Harris to cut the lead to 3-1.  Junior third baseman Cortni Jones reached on a fielder's choice to drive home Eccles to cut the lead to 3-2, but Humes was thrown out at second for the second out of the inning.  Senior designated hitter Amanda Hallman hit an RBI single through the left side to drive home Dickerson to tie the game at three, but a popout to the shortstop ended the inning.
 
Mount St. Mary's added another run in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead after an RBI single and added eight runs in the sixth inning after a three-run homerun, a solo homerun, a two-run homerun, an error to allow a run score and a sacrifice bunt to allow another run to score.
 
The Mount was led by Lindsay Heinze going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Marian Ruf went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored and Kirsten Mumma went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.  On the mound, Amanda Berkley (1-2) picked up the win pitching 5.0 innings giving up three runs on six hits.

Harris led the team batting 3-for-3 with a run score, while Eccles and Jones each recorded a hit and a run score, and Jones and Mitchell each recorded an RBI.  On the mound, Hallman (2-5) pitched the complete game giving up five runs, four earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts.
 
The Mount scored all five runs in the top of the first inning after a two-run double, a fielder's choice to allow a run score, an RBI error and another RBI error.
 
The Lady Tigers scored a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 5-1 after Harris scored on error by the pitcher.
 
Savannah State scored a run in the fifth inning after Jones hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive home Eccles to cut the lead to 5-2 and scored the final run of the game in the in the seventh inning after a fielder's choice to allow Jones to score.
 
The Mount was led by Heinze going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Kaylee Stoner, Mumma and Morgan Alisauckas each recorded a hit and a run scored.  On the mound, Jordan Weaver (3-1) pitched five innings for the win giving up two runs on two hits with seven walks, while Kate Olson (1) picked up the save pitching the last two innings giving up one run on two hits.
 
The Lady Tigers travel to Charleston Southern Tuesday at 3 p.m.
