Savannah, Ga. -- The Tigers will travel to Daytona Beach to take on Bethune-Cookman in a battle for 1st place in the MEAC. Currently, SSU is in a three-way tie with B-CU and N.C. A&T, all with 10-3 records, for the 1st place spot. 

Tiger Bites
· SSU's has lost it's last two games. The last time the Tigers dropped two straight was in December of 2017 when they loss five straight games; four of which were to AP Top 25 teams.

· SSU's leading scorer Dexter McClanahan went over 1,000 career points in the Tigers win over N.C. A&T. After his 18-point night, he now has 1,012 points at SSU.

· SSU leads the nation in total 3-pointers made with 349, 3-pointers per game averaging 12.5 and three point attempts with 1,149. The Tigers are in the top 10 nationally in: Scoring offense (5th) averaging 86.7 ppg; steals per game (4th) averaging 9.7; total steals (4th) with 271; and turnovers forced (3rd) averaging 18.46.

 Notes:
FENNER SETS NEW RECORD
Alante Fenner is coming off a 46 point performance in the Tigers win over Morgan St. He was named the MEAC and BoxToRow Player of the Week for his performances in two SSU wins last week.
 
#1 IN THE MEAC
The Savannah State Tigers rank #1 in the MEAC in nine statistical categories. The Tigers lead the conference in: 3-pt field goals attempted (1,149), assist per game (15.8); scoring offense (86.7), steals per game (9.7), 3-pt field goals per game (12.5), total 3-pointers made (349), total steals (271), turnover margin (4.2), and turnovers forced (18.46).
 
MOVING BACK DOWN
In April 2017, the Savannah State administration made the decision to move SSU athletics from Division I to Division II. The move will become effective following the 2018-19 season.
 
MCCLANAHAN LEADING SSU
Dexter McClanahan is 8th in the conference in three-point field goals made with 62 and is averaging 2.2 made threes per game. McClanahan is also 9th in the conference in scoring averaging 15.9 ppg.
 
BLOCK PARTY
Savannah State forward Jahir Cabeza was named co-Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight blocks in two games last week. Cabeza had six blocks in SSU's win Morgan St. and added another two in the Tigers victory over N.C. A&T. Cabeza is also leading the  conference in blocks per game averaging 1.5 in conference games only.
