SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State women's tennis team (0-2) fell to Wofford College (5-0) 7-0 to continue a three-match homestand at the Tiger Tennis Courts Saturday.
 
Wofford won at the No. 3 doubles position after Lauren Reid and Sam Russell defeated freshmen Ekaterina Vorobeva and Shakendra Alston 6-0, but the Lady Tigers tied the doubles point after senior Rachida El Kateb and freshman Sofia Shut'ko defeated Wofford's doubles duo of Curran Carver and Brittany Wilbur 7-5.
 
The Terriers won the doubles point after Cassidy Hicks and Jenna Vroman defeated SSU's doubles duo of Sansriti Ranjan and Muskaan Ranjan 6-1 to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Wofford went up 2-0 after Vroman defeated Vorobeva 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles position and took a 3-0 lead after Hicks defeated Shut'ko 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position.
 
The Terriers clinched the match after Wilbur defeated El Kateb 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position to take a 4-0 lead and took a 5-0 lead after Annie Mayfield defeated Alston 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 6 singles position.
 
Muskaan Ranjan won the first set 6-2 at the No. 4 singles position over Carver, but fell in the second set 6-2 and lost the third set 1-0 (9) to give Wofford a 6-0 lead.  In the final match, Sansriti Ranjan fell to Reid 6-4 in the first set and tied in the second set at six.  In the tiebreaker point, Sansriti Ranjan was up 5-3, but was outscored 6-2 during the point to lose the second set 7-6 (7) to give the Terries the 7-0 win.
 
The Lady Tigers finish the homestand with Georgia Southern University Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Tiger Tennis Courts.
