SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's tennis team (0-3) fell to Georgia Southern University (3-0) 7-0 to conclude the three-match homestand at the Tiger Tennis Courts Tuesday. 
 
Georgia Southern swept the doubles match to win the doubles point and to take a 1-0 lead.  GS doubles duo of Arianne de Winter and Lindsay Truscott defeated SSU's doubles duo of Sansriti Ranjan and Muskaan Ranjan 6-0 at the No. 1 position and clinched the point after the Eagles doubles team of Paula Boixader and Charlotte van Dieman defeated the Lady Tigers doubles team of freshman Sofia Shut'ko and senior Rachida El Kateb 6-1.
 
The Eagles doubles duo of Mia Hartig and Paige Christian finished the doubles sweep after defeating SSU freshmen Ekaterina Vorobeva and Shakendra Alston 6-3.
 
Georgia Southern took a 2-0 lead after Christian defeated Alston 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 singles position and took a 3-0 lead after Hartig defeated El Kateb 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position.
 
The Eagles clinched the match after de Winter defeated Shut'ko 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position to take a 4-0 lead.  Vorobeva defeated Emilia Bujan 6-4 in the first set, but Bujan tied the match after winning the second set 6-1. Vorobeva trailed 3-0 in the final set, but was retired to lose the match and to give GS a 5-0 lead.
 
The two final matches came down to the sisters.  Sansriti Ranjan fell to Truscott 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 3 singles position to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead.  Muskaan Ranjan won the first set 7-6 (6), but fell in the second set 6-4.  Boixader won the final set 1-0 (2) to give the Eagles the 7-0 sweep.
 
The Lady Tigers starts a three-game roadstand with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener against South Carolina State University Monday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. in Orangeburg, S.C.
