DURHAM, N.C.- Salma Gonzelez had 12 assists and Liz Ortiz Munoz added 10 digs but it would not be enough as Savannah State lost a road game to North Carolina Central by scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-12 in Walker Complex.
The loss drops SSU to 3-18 overall and 2-5 in the MEAC.
Savannah State struggled to get any rhythm and ended the day with 19 kills, 18 assists, 24 digs and 10 blocks.

Karissa Tatum had four kills apiece.
In the first set, SSU trailed 9-8 but Central scored six of the next seven points to increase their lead to 15-9. SSU got as close as 15-11 before faltering down the stretch.
The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second set but Savannah State battled back to cut their deficit to one with five straight points. SSU was down 8-7 but errors attributed to a 10-2 run by NCCU.
In the third set, SSU struggled and hit .069 while Central had a .448 hitting percentage.
NCCU was led by Christine Alcox (12 kills), Isis Mitchell (34 assists), Erika Ianovale (17 digs) and Whitney white (4 digs).
The Eagles improve to 5-17 and 3-5 in conference play.
