SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State outscored Jacksonville in the second half but the Dolphins hung on in a 68-58 non-conference win over the Lady Tigers in a game played at Tiger Arena.

Myasia Jones scoring a game-high 26 points.

Jacksonville led by 14 at the half.

In the third quarter, SSU found themselves down 46-31 but used a 8-2 spurt to close their gap to nine with 2:18 remaining, following a layup by
Heniaya Moton.

The Dolphins closed the quarter limiting Savannah State to just two points as they increased their lead to 54-41.

JU outscored the Lady Tigers 12-4 in the paint in the third period.

Leading 60-43 with just under eight minutes remaining in the contest, Jacksonville saw their lead shrink to six with 2:03 left after SSU strung together a 13-2 run.

Savannah State could only score two points the rest of the way as they fell to 2-2.

Jones opened the game for SSU with a pair of 3-pointers for a 6-1 advantage but Jacksonville stormed back and led 12-10 at the end of the first period.

Jacksonville started the second quarter with a 21-3 run to take a 33-13 lead with 4:05 left.

Savannah State did not allow a field goal the remainder of the half as they closed the period with a 7-1 spurt.

Jasmyn Brown led JU (2-2) with 20 points.

Savannah State shot 30.3 percent from the field while making 13 of 23 free throw attempts. Jacksonville shot 36.9 percent from the field and made 16 of 29 shots from the foul line.

The Dolphins made 25 turnover but won the rebounding battle 55 to 43.
