Heniaya Moton scored 11 points in Savannah State's 124-61 loss to 16th ranked DePaul in a non-conference game played at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

The crowd of 1,411 saw the Blue Demons shoot 50.6 percent from the field and 53.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Savannah State (2-3) shot 16 percent from the field in the first half but did better in the second half, shooting 45 percent from the floor in the third quarter and 40 percent in the fourth quarter.

In the first quarter with the scored tied 2-2, DePaul scored 24 unanswered points for a 26-2 lead with 4:28 on the clock.

The Lady Tigers put together a 7-2 mini-run to get within 19 as Moton and
Jacquece Alston made free throws,
Jalea Gray made a layup and
Le'Andrea Gillis hit a 3-pointer.

DePaul, who had 20 points off turnover in the opening period, led 33-12 after one quarter of play.

DePaul (4-1) started the second quarter with a 13-3 run that expanded their advantage to 46-15 with 5:05 showing.

A layup by Gray with 4:39 left cut Savannah State's deficit to 29 points. SSU did not make another field goal the rest of the half but did finish the period making all six free throw attempts.

The Blue Demons led 65-23 at intermission.

In the third quarter, SSU out-scored DePaul 16-10 in the paint but a 19-4 run by the Blue Demons expanded their lead to 57 with 41 seconds showing on the clock.

In the fourth quarter, Savannah State out-scored DePaul 14-8 in the paint and did not allow any points off turnovers. SSU would only get as close as 56 and a 3-pointer by Lexi Held with 1:40 left gave DePaul their largest lead of the night at 124-61.

Alston added 10 points, five rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocks for the Lady Tigers.

DePaul, who won the rebounding battle 55 to 41, had six players in double figures. Dee Bekelja had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
