SAVANNAH, Ga.  – Savannah State University volleyball team (2-12) hosts Bethune-Cookman University (2-7) for SSU's home and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener Friday at 6 p.m. and Florida A&M University (3-9) Sunday at 1 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium.
 
The Lady Tigers are led by junior outside hitter Jennifer Rosado with 1.48 kills per set, senior setter Alee Quint with 3.76 assists per set and freshman libero Leiri Melendez with 2.64 digs per set. 
 
Freshman middle blocker Tyran Chenault leads the team with 0.87 blocks per set, while freshman setter Salma Gonzalez averages 1.70 digs per set, 2.78 assists per set and 1.09 kills per set and freshman outside hitter Brooke Sanford is second on the team with 1.40 kills per set. 
 
B-CU has lost the last four matches and is led by Jordan Jefferson with 3.57 kills per set, Phalen Clark with 10.32 assists per set and Rechez Lindsay with 3.76 digs per set.
 
FAMU has won two of the last three matches and is led by Nicole Abreu with 3.41 kills per set, Elena Dimitrova with 8.85 assists per set and Valentina Carrasco with 4.93 digs per set, which leads the conference.
 
The Lady Tigers travel to Macon, Ga., Wednesday at 6 p.m. to face Mercer University before traveling to North Carolina for the weekend to face North Carolina A&T State University Friday at 7 p.m. in Greensboro and North Carolina Central University Sunday at 1 p.m. in Durham.
