SAVANNAH, Ga.  – Savannah State University volleyball team (2-9) travels to Virginia for the final non-conference tournament this weekend for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference North/South Challenge.
 
The Lady Tigers start the tournament with a single match Friday at 7 p.m. against Norfolk State University (2-8) in Norfolk and plays a doubleheader Saturday in Virginia Beach with University of Maryland Eastern Shore (11-4) at 11 a.m. and Hampton University (2-11) at 4 p.m.
 
The Lady Tigers are led by junior outside hitter Jennifer Rosado with 1.63 kills per set, senior setter Alee Quint with 3.77 assists per set and freshman libero Leiri Melendez with 2.66 digs per set. 
 
Freshman middle blocker Tyran Chenault leads the team with 0.85 blocks per set, while freshman setter Salma Gonzalez averages 1.74 digs per set, 2.77 assists per set and 0.97 kills per set. 
 
NSU has lost the last four matches with its last win against MEAC foe North Carolina Central University 3-1.  The Spartans are led by Taylor Eichelberger with 2.38 kills per set, Jill Aquino with 5.70 assists per set and Melvina Brown with 4.47 digs per set. 
 
MDES has won 10 of the last 12 matches including a 3-0 win at George Washington the last time out.  The Hawks are led by Iva Vujosevic with 3.35 kills per set, Ivana Blazevic with 9.06 assists per set and Maja Jankovic with 3.40 digs per set.
 
Hampton has last the last three matches with the last win against The Citadel, 3-1.  The Pirates are led by Reeana Richardson with 3.00 kills per set, Lena Reed-patracek with 5.28 assists per set and Maja Petronijevic with 2.87 digs per set. 
 
The Lady Tigers host Bethune-Cookman University Friday at 6 p.m. in Willcox-Wiley Gymnasium for the Savannah State's home opener and MEAC opener and hosts Florida A&M University Sunday at 1 p.m.
